A lovely day in spring

Today we went for a nice walk looking for another geocache (if you don't know what that means click here). It was just amazing seeing and smelling spring!

Craft night at our house

Somehow I can't get away from organizing craft nights. Last Wednesday I taught a group of CEF workers and friends how to use the napkin technique with acrylic colors on canvas - the outcome was quite amazing and everyone went home delighted.

A special wedding gift

The Bible verse on my painting is taken from Ephesians 4:15: "But speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head - Christ." I find the German translation much better!
Gary and I chose this verse for our wedding in 1999 and last December my brother got married and they chose the same verse. So I decided to paint somthing for them that will remind them of their special day and will remain as a "motto"...

Castle Rock / Northern Ireland

This was my last picture that I painted for a friend in Ireland before we moved to Germany.
Castle Rock at the north coast of N.Ireland is a favourite spot for her and her family. Acrylic colours on canvas, ca. 30x24 cm.

We found a house in Germany!

After much searching over the past months and after much prayer we have finally found - what we believe - the right house for us. It is located in a lovely village called Binzen near Lörrach. From there it is only about 10-15 min to the Swiss border. God willing we will be moving there in July.

Poppies in field

This painting has just been finished. It was made for someones living room. I really love the colours and the atmosphere in the picture. For the first time I used texture paste on canvas which I found really easy to use and it has a brilliant effect. As acrylic colours are quite smooth - this looks more like oil on canvas. In my next blog I will show you a close up.

Heute Morgen hat Gary die Mitglieder unserer Gemeinde informiert, daß er Anfang Juni diesen Jahres von seinem Amt als Associate Pastor in Portadown Baptist Church zurücktreten wird.

Am 13. Januar besuchte uns der CEF (KEB) Irland Direktor Henry Berry (Child Evangelism Fellowship) und seine Frau. Er kam im Auftrag der europäischen Feldleitung der KEB (Kinder Evangelisations Bewegung) und legte uns einen Brief und eine Arbeitsbeschreibung vor. Es ging um den Posten des europäischen „Youth Challenge Coordinatior“ (Teens-aktiv Koordinator). Jedenfalls baten sie uns, diese Einladung im Gebet zu bewegen.

Das kam alles sehr überraschend für uns, denn wir hatten überhaupt keine Ahnung von ihren Absichten. Wir kamen aus dem Staunen gar nicht mehr raus. Andererseits wußten wir, daß der Herr unsere Herzen in den letzten Monaten auf etwas vorbereitet hat. So konnten wir Gottes Hand darin erkennen und mit tiefen Frieden im Herzen die Einladung annehmen.
Gary hatte schon von 1992-96 in der europäischen Zentrale der KEB (Schweiz) in Kilchzimmer in der Literaturabteilung gearbeitet und es ist ihm daher alles sehr vertraut. Sogar sein Schweizerdeutsch – wenn auch etwas eingerostet – ist noch vorhanden :-)

Gary und ich haben mit dem Prozeß begonnen, Kandidaten der KEB zu werden und wenn wir angenommen sind, dann werden wir als Familie im Sommer das 3-monatige Trainingsinstitut in Kilchzimmer besuchen.

Die Details und der genaue Zeitplan wird noch mit der KEB Irland Leitung besprochen. Die folgenden Daten geben einen Anhaltspunkt:

• Jun - Sept 06 Kandidatenkurs in Kilchzimmer (Schweiz)
• Okt 06 - Juni 07 Praktikumszeit mit KEB Mitarbeitern in Irland, Reisedienste in Irland auch zur finanziellen Unterstützung, einige Reisen in Europa zu Trainingskursen und Konferenzen
• Juli 07 – Umzug in die Schweiz
• Aug – Dez 07 Praktikumszeit in der Schweiz (Zuammenarbeit mit Philippe Mayhew) und möglicherweise Reisedienst in Deutschland
• Januar 08 offizieller Beginn des Postens

Youth Challenge (Teens-aktiv) ist die Jugendabteilung der KEB (Junior Youth Challenge (JYC)
für 11-14 Jährige und Senior Youth Challenge (SYC) für 15+
Gary’s Hauptaufgaben:

• Training – unterrichten und organisieren von Leiterkursen
• Literatur – überarbeiten und schreiben von Material für die JYC un SYC Arbeit sowie das Koordinieren der Übersetzung in verschiedene europäische Sprachen
• Webseite - als Hilfe für YC Mitarbeiter
• Öffentlichkeitsarbeit– YC Infobriefe und YC Arbeit auf verschiedenen Konferenzen und in Bibelschulen Europas vorstellen

Das Erleben der letzten Wochen war sehr intensiv und wenn es auch aufregend im positiven Sinne war, so fühlen wir uns mental doch etwas erschöpft. Wir sind sehr traurig, unsere Gemeinde in Portadown zu verlassen, da wir uns seit dem Arbeitsbeginn im August 03 in der Gemeinde sehr wohlgefühlt haben. Wir glauben aber, daß dieser nächste Schritt Gottes Plan für uns ist und wir müssen den Glaubensschritt wagen und gehorsam sein. Wir beabsichtigen, Mitglieder in unserer Gemeinde zu bleiben.

Im Moment erscheint uns der finanzielle Aspekt wie ein fast unüberwindlicher Berg. Wir benötigen 100% Unterstützung, was für die Schweiz eine recht hohe Summe sein wird. Außerdem kommen dann noch Gary’s Reisekosten hinzu, da er auch häufiger unterwegs sein wird. Aber auch hier dürfen wir dem Herrn vertrauen, denn wir wissen, daß er treu ist und uns versorgen wird. Ein Vers, der uns seit unserer Absolvierung von der Bibelschule begleitete, steht in 1.Thess 5,24: „Treu ist Er, der euch beruft; Er wird’s auch tun.“

This painting captures a lovely autumn day in the Mourne Mountains. I have painted it before, but this time much bigger!

Another interesting combination of Acrylic paint on canvas and "Chemage" - a paper napkin technique. Amazing what you can do - it gives it that hand painted look! 24x30 cm 

The Fastnet Rock Lighthouse was built 100 years ago. It is the most important landfall off the Irish Coast (West Cork). Its Gaelic name "Carrig Aonar" (lonely rock) is significant, for a lonelier place than the Fastnet won't be difficult to imagine... It gained itself the name "teardrop of Irland" because it was the last bit of Ireland seen by immigrants on their journey to America. The Lighthouse stands strong against the mighty Atlantic Ocean and the painting captures that strength and the respect the sea commands. Acrylic colours on canvas (60 x 45 cm). 

A lovely seaside painting. Feel the breeze :-) ! Acrylic colours on box canvas (40 x 40 cm). 

A combination of a technique called "Serviettentechnik" in German (using the pictures of paper napkins plus varnish) and acrylic colours. Here I used real shells, small pebbles and pieces of cord as well. Size 30 x 30 cm 

Sometimes I like to take a rather modern approach... This painting is 40 x 80 cm and I used acrylic colours on canvas.
